Shortbread Shake up...

If you order our Organic Shortbread this week, you'll get to see our fresh new packaging... For one last time, we have re-designed the Shortbread packaging to feature pictures of the biscuits, a few ingredients, and upped the quality of the film so they are now foil wrapped for freshness. All of the biscuits are still exactly the same organic morsels baked by the same lovely bakery. Unlike some food suppliers, we're not cost cutting of downgrading the quality of our products
- we're doing the opposite - continually improving them.

The rest of the range will be changing over to the new packaging shortly, and will soon be joined by a new exciting variety. Watch this space, or sign up to our newsletters for an update when they are ready...

Make Mine a Matcha...

Sometimes even we forget about hidden gem's in our range. However, when we were walking around Borough Market last week, we saw a stall serving up shots of Wheat Grass juice - claiming that it provided huge benefits. We couldn't help but think of Matcha!

Matcha is very finely ground shade grown green tea leaves. Unlike Wheat grass, or even a cup of regular green tea, you actually consume the powder when you eat Matcha, so you enjoy ALL of the benefits - including a huge amount of antioxidants.

To make a matcha half fill a small jug with cold milk, add a teaspoon of honey and top with about 2-3g of Matcha. Steam to mix. Alternatively you can add it to our Vanilla Frappe mix to make a matcha Frappe. Well Matcha me...

Suki Takes Gold!

We've been banging on about how good Suki tea is for just over a year now, and we're delighted to say that the stringent team from the Guild of Fine Food Retailers all agree!

The results of the Great Taste Awards 2008 have just been announced, and Suki Tea has won an impressive 5 awards. Last year they only entered one tea and it got an award, so this year they entered 6, with five winning - we think that's pretty good.

Coming out top was their Organic Camomile with a three star gold rating. Also winning awards were Fairtrade Belfast Brew**, Fairtrade Breakfast Tea*, Jasmine Dragon Phoenix Pearls* and Peppermint*.

Well done Oscar & Annie!

(ps, Oscar is just back from his holidays and has updated the Suki blog with his tea findings - great reading www.sukimobile.blogspot.com)

Summertime Tea

Summer is finally here and no matter how much you like coffee, sometimes it just doesn’t hit the spot when the temperatures are soaring.

We’ve been playing around in the office making iced teas using Suki Tea. It may sound like hassle, but if you offer one Iced Tea special a day, it’s actually quite an easy (and cost effective) way to offer a premium iced tea.

Start off making a concentrated tea. Use three times the amount of tea, pop it into a Tea Pocket, and stand for 15-20 minutes.

While hot, add a 4oz cup of white sugar and leave to cool to lukewarm. Use one third tea, to two thirds water and serve with plenty of ice. We think Green Roobios Citrus, Red Berry, Apple loves Mint or Peppermint work fabulously! Garnish with a slice of lemon or some berries and a sprig of mint.

(If that’s all too much effort for you, try a few pumps of Essenz Iced Tea Syrup, water and ice. Just don’t show your customers how easy it is)

Get in the Tennis mood - Strawberry & White Chocolate Muffinloafs

Back in August 2007, when we created the Espresso Warehouse catalogue, we were thinking forward to summer 2008 and thought "what says summer?". Wimbledon, strawberries and cream came to mind.

Our limited edition Strawberry and White Chocolate muffinloaf is a light eating summery cake with a strong (and natural) strawberry aroma, topped of with a drizzle of White Chocolate. Perfect for munching while watching a game of tennis

Available in cases of 30 with a shelf life of around 6-8 weeks, it's a summer winner.

Suki goes mobile!

It's been about 6 months since we launched our partnership with Suki Tea to the world. Already we have a band of loyal customers who are thrilled with the impact it's made on their business.

One of the things we love so much about Suki Tea is the people who run the business - Oscar and Annie. You can now keep up to date with what Suki are doing by visiting their Blog site www.sukimobile.blogspot.com

Among other things are details of Oscar's latest trip to a mint plantation in Morocco, and pictures of their recent stand at the Covent Garden Market.

If you'd like some samples of Suki Tea, reply to this email and let us know and tell us what your favourite tea is.
